Background Noise
A lot of things are heard in the background. Meaning, we casually hear the noise but not really paying attention to it. We do this a lot in life, for example: conversations in the kitchen with family while the football game you love is on the television; or the morning news playing in the background while you sip coffee and read a book or send that email to a coworker. The truth is our brains cancel a lot of noise out due to something called ADAPTATION. At some point you do not hear the loud noise anymore as you focus on other things. Your brain has adapted to the loud environment to where it cancels out the noise in the background.
What Commotion, Chaos, Trial or in other words, Background noise, is causing you to not hear the Word of God and Obey it?
Some may listen to the preached Word but their brain is canceling out what needs to be put into action. Don’t treat the Word of God as background noise.
Ezekiel 33:32 says, [32] “And, lo, thou art unto them as a very lovely song of one that hath a pleasant voice, and can play well on an instrument: for they hear thy words, but they do them not.”
Sometimes we even do this with scriptures we have heard THOUSANDS of times. We have adapted to that scripture to where it does not have much meaning anymore. You may find this true about:
⁃ We walk by Faith and not by Sight
⁃ John 3:16: God so love the world he gave his only begotten…
⁃ The Lord is my shepherd I shall not want…
Impactful scriptures right? Let’s get back to hearing the Word and taking action.
Food for thought: Obey Acts 2:38 for salvation. Don’t just read it but take action
Acts 2:38 KJV
[38] Then Peter said unto them, Repent, and be baptized every one of you in the name of Jesus Christ for the remission of sins, and ye shall receive the gift of the Holy Ghost
Very insightful and true. Thank you for this awesome read!
