The Importance of Boundaries & Rules

In the world of sports, boundaries are fundamental to maintaining fairness, order, and control in the game. Whether it's track runners staying in their lanes, soccer players keeping the ball in bounds, football players staying between the white lines, or volleyball players ensuring the ball stays in play, these boundaries are essential. They not only prevent chaos but also protect the players from harm, ensuring that the game progresses.  No one fights about the rules of the  game played because we know what the expectation is.  Without these boundaries, sports would lose their meaning and wouldn’t be as fun.

This principle holds true in our everyday lives as well. Just as in sports, God has provided us with boundaries to make life more meaningful and purposeful. When we honor these boundaries, we find direction and purpose, and we experience fewer negative consequences. However, when we step out of bounds, there are penalties and consequences.

The wages of sin is death and the gift of God is eternal life. We should all obey the Word of God and Repent from our unrighteousness. God has rules and boundaries and it seems that these are the only rules individuals fight and disagree with.  No one in sports argues about the rules of the sports; it’s just what it is.

Just as in sports, boundaries are there not to hinder us, but to humble us as we abide by rules and move us closer to a deeper relationship in God. God gave Adam and Eve boundaries and rules.  After stepping outside of these boundaries there were consequences mankind had to face.  God wants to bring us back to the place of holiness and purity and he has placed rules in the scriptures for us to abide by in order to achieve this.

Instead of perceiving boundaries as restrictions on our freedom, we should view them as tools that guide us to live life morally and righteously.

Obey Acts 2:38 for salvation.
